Privacy policy

Scale of U is a free explorer of the size of everything, from a proton to the observable universe. It is made by Grossard Education Pty Ltd and is available at scaleofu.com and as apps for Android and iOS. This policy explains what the website and the apps handle.

The apps

No personal information. The apps have no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no crash reporting. They collect nothing about you and share nothing with anyone.
Downloads. The apps download 3D models and object details from scaleofu.com. Each request names only the file it needs, with the app's name, version and platform. It carries no device identifier, location or account. Like any internet request it arrives from your network's IP address. We do not log these requests. Our firewall keeps a small sample of recent requests for a few hours to block attacks, then discards it.
On your device. What you look at, how far you zoom and how you turn models stay on your device.

The website

Usage counts. The website counts which objects, categories and comparisons are viewed, a few actions such as starting a tour or choosing a search result, and errors in the page. The counts go to Tudio, a Grossard Education service. Each record includes the IP address it came from, a summary of the browser and operating system, the page address, the website that linked to it and a random code made for that visit. We use them only to see which parts of Scale of U are used and to fix problems. Records are deleted after 30 days.
No cookies. The website sets no cookies, has no accounts and never sends what you type into search.
Hosting. The website and the apps' downloads are served by Amazon Web Services. Fonts and images come from scaleofu.com itself.

Children

Scale of U is made for learners of all ages, including children under 13. Neither the website nor the apps ask for personal information, show ads, or let people contact each other.

Sharing

We do not sell or share data. Amazon Web Services hosts the website and downloads on our behalf. Source links in object details open other websites, which have their own policies.

Your choices

The apps collect nothing to opt out of. On the website, content blockers or private browsing stop the usage counts. To ask about data we hold or to have it deleted, email support@grossard.com.au.
